Founded in 1991, SONATS is an industrial firm specialising in mechanical impact surface treatment technologies using our patented ultrasonic process: STRESSONIC®.
Our expertise in the measurement and control of residual stresses and compressive stress has evolved into our activity based on the following processes:
- Shot peening
- Peen forming, straightening
- Weld impact treatment (HFMI or UIT)
- Stress corrosion cracking mitigation
SONATS machines, portable or automated, available at our premises or on your site, are renowned, approved and used in many sectors: Aerospace, Automotive, Energy, Defence, Medical, Transport, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas, Heavy Industry and more. Our policy of constant innovation allows SONATS to propose processes and technologies that fulfil and even anticipate the expectations of our customers.
From laboratory analysis to setting up processes and machines, our staff and engineers provide professional services as well as tailor-made solutions optimised for results.
With 65% of our turnover made abroad, SONATS works internationally with its developed international network forming the basis of a responsive and quality service for the equipment of our international customers.
Our headquarters is in Nantes, Carquefou, France. Both EMPOWERING TECHNOLOGIES INC. in the United States (Alabama) and EMPOWERINC TECHNOLOGIES China are subsidiaries of the Europe Technologies Group promoting SONATS services and products.

At our test laboratory, engineering, assembly workshop, SONATS has the most suitable efficient equipment allowing its staff to work in the best possible conditions to ensure the high quality of services required by our customers.
SONATS invests between 10 and 15% of our turnover in innovation, research and development.
We lead or are at least involved in many collaborative projects with prime contractors, universities and institutes. We participate in many conferences, standardisation committees (SAE) and scientific conferences, sometimes as training experts.
